Arrive at Johannesburg International Airport, where you will clear customs and collect your luggage. Our representative will meet you in the Arrivals Hall, holding a board with your names on it, and will assist you with the collection of your hired vehicle. Proceed to Rissington Inn, approximately 4 hours' drive away. Rissington Inn is an affordable, award-winning country lodge in the heart of the Lowveld, close to Hazyview. Stylish but relaxed and informal, the inn is the perfect stopover on the way to the game reserves and an ideal base from which to explore all that Mpumalanga has to offer. Outstanding breakfasts, light meals, lunch and dinner in the a la carte restaurant, open 7 days a week. The welcoming, friendly bar is fully licensed. The 14 individual rooms and suites are surrounded by 10 acres of extensive colourful gardens and offer comfortable, spacious and airy accommodation. All rooms have their own entrances and verandas. Each has a private bathroom and the magnificent garden suites also offer outside showers. Overnight at Rissington Inn in a Garden Suite, breakfast included. Day 3 After breakfast, you will drive yourselves to the Timbavati Game Reserve, approximately 2 hours' drive away. Shindzela Bush Camp is situated in a Big Five game viewing area in the Greater Kruger National Park, South Africa. The camp is situated in the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve, on the border of Mpumalanga and Limpopo Provinces, not far from the Orpen gate of the Kruger National Park. The Timbavati Reserve is open to the Kruger National Park. The camp is totally eco-friendly - solar electricity and gas energy are provided. The Camp does offer unlimited Wi-Fi! Safari accommodation is in comfortable canvas safari tents, on wooden platforms with en-suite bathrooms. The main area of the camp features a kitchen, dining area, Boma and staff tents. Day 7
Today you will leave the Timbavati, heading inside the Kruger National Park, and onward to Hoyo Hoyo Camp - around 3 hours' drive away. Hoyo Hoyo Tsonga Lodge is located in the heart of the Imbali Concession in the Kruger National Park. It offers an unrivalled African safari in five star luxury. Game viewing at Hoyo-Hoyo Tsonga Lodge is truly spectacular and the lodge is home to creatures’ great and small. Africa's Big 5 - lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo - roam the reserve as well as a diverse variety of antelope, birds and insects. Open game drives, guided bush walks, and bird watching are all offered at the lodge. Located on an ancient elephant route in a 10 000 hectare concession of the Kruger National Park, this unique camp is steeped in modern day opulence and luxury. Boasting six luxury air conditioned ‘bee-hive’ suites with earth coloured walls, king size beds, en-suite bathrooms, outdoor showers and private game viewing decks await. Fabrics, décor and objet d’art are sourced from the local Tsonga community whilst menus offer a traditional taste delicately balanced with a European flair. During the day you can enjoy spectacular game viewing in the area and sightings of Elephant are guaranteed. Big cats such as Leopard and Lion are also commonly seen. Day 10 After breakfast, you will depart, heading for the Sabi Sands Reserve and Umkumbe Lodge. Umkumbe Safari Lodge is situated in the Sabi Sands Wildlife Reserve, considered to be one of the best wildlife reserves in South Africa. The Lodge has been built on the banks of the seasonal Sand River and offers a personalised, owner-run operation. Gate fees and vehicle fees are charged separately. The main lodge area consists of a lounge, swimming pool with decking, as well an open air dining area and bar. All facilities have wonderful views of the active riverbed. There is also a Boma, where dinner is served around a roaring fire, against the natural sounds of the bushveld. The lodge sleeps a maximum of 12 guests in six chalets/rooms. Five of the chalets have en-suite bathrooms (with showers) and one has an en-suite bathroom with both a shower and bath. All rooms have twin or double beds and all have mosquito nets. Bedding is comfortable without being ostentatious. Most of the chalets have a small veranda with camping chairs, and with views of the Sand River. Your stay at Umkumbe will be inclusive of all meals, game drives & bush walks, teas & coffees. |
Days 4, 5 and 6
Shindzela Bush camp offers game drives, night drives and walking safaris in a Big Five game viewing area in the Greater Kruger National Park, South Africa. The Timbavati Reserve, South Africa, is home to over 40 mammal species, including Africa’s “Big Five” animals (lion, leopard, rhino, buffalo and elephant). Shindzela 's waking safaris can be from 2 – 4 hours on a trail. All trails are led by an experienced armed safari guide, and tracker. A maximum of 8 guests make up a trail. Your guide will give you a thorough safety briefing before starting, so that you are comfortable with the rules and safety instructions pertaining to your walking trail. Safari activities are conducted in the early mornings and late afternoons. Your walking safari begins at dawn, and you return to camp mid-morning. Spend the rest of the day relaxing in camp by the pool or in the general areas. In the afternoon, depending on the animal movements in the area, your guide may suggest a game drive and short walk, followed by sundowners and a night safari game drive. Days 11 and 12 The Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve forms part of the Greater Kruger Park, with no fences between the two, thus allowing game to wander freely from one region to the other. This region is home to an abundance of wildlife, including lion, leopard, rhino, elephant and buffalo. In addition to the Big Five animals that are regularly sighted include giraffe, zebra, warthog, spotted hyaena, baboon, hippo, impala, kudu, vervet monkey, waterbuck, wildebeest, bushbaby, mongoose, duiker and steenbok. Other sightings include wild dog, cheetah, honey badger, porcupine, aardvark, civet, caracal and serval. Birding is spectacular, and includes species such as vultures, owls, bee-eaters, rollers, eagles, bustards, hornbills, starlings and shrikes. Day 13
After an early breakfast, depart Umkumbe travelling to Nelspruit Airport, approximately 2 hours away. Here you will return your hired vehicle, before boarding South African Airlink, flying to Vilanculos Airport in Mozambique. After clearing customs and collecting your luggage (and purchasing a visa for Mozambique - +/- US$95 each), a Guest Services representative will meet you at the Airport, and you and your luggage will be transferred from the Airport to the landing point in a mini-bus and trailer. There is no jetty, so you will need to walks through water, although not very far, and the water is not deep! Restaurants on offer: Golfinho - Delight in gourmet breakfast and dinner experiences in an inspiring restaurant with original walls dating back to the early Portuguese traders; Tartaruga - Feast on tantalising barbeques under the stars overlooking the beach; Clube Naval - Enjoy light lunches and delicious pizzas in a stylishly casual setting beside the beach. Located next to the poolside bar and chill out deck, Clube Naval is the perfect place to take your time savouring mouth-watering flavours as well as tropical sunset cocktails with a glorious ocean view. Days 14, 15, 16, 17 and 18 Each day offers a range of activities and tours to immerse you in the beauty of island life. Ride horses along the beach. Discover a paradise for ornithologists. Delve into local culture with a community village visit, or stay in the resort and learn how to cook Mozambique’s uniquely bold cuisine.
