Cape Heritage Hotel, Bree Street, Cap Town, is set in the fashionable Heritage Square. Cape Heritage Hotel is an intimate boutique hotel, offering direct access to vibrant street life, shopping and fine dining.

The Hotel is an integral part of the restored Heritage Square, whose origins date to the late 18th Century; interestingly the central courtyard is shaded by the oldest known fruit-bearing grapevine in South Africa…dating to 1771. This tenacious little vine has, and still does, survive un-watered, apart from the Cape’s winter rains; and produces sufficient fruit annually for about 20 litres of wine.

This delightful hotel has fifteen bedrooms (mixture of standard and luxury) and two suites, each individually appointed to enhance its unique historical character. Here style and comfort meet, and the modern meets the master-crafted, as rooms feature high-beamed teak ceilings, yellowwood floors and carefully preserved bespoke details, with accommodation boasting air-conditioning, mini bar, and satellite TV, and complimentary Wi-Fi. All beds are extra length king-sized, with individually sprung mattresses and a selection of pillows. In addition, all of the bathrooms are uniquely designed and decorated to compliment the historical style of the property.

The Cape Heritage Hotel serves breakfast daily in the breakfast room or under the vine in the courtyard. Room service is also available. Heritage Square is a unique with a good selection of restaurants literally in the same setting – you can dine al fresco, or at one of the eateries.

Each of the six fine restaurants in the square offer a unique dining experience:
Bistro-Bizerca - you will find classic French dishes and traditional cooking methods at the Bistro, along with new dishes created with international influences; Chefs Warehouse - Tapas centred lunches and dinners with a Street Food take away outlet. You can also try deli products, including breads, cheeses and charcuterie; HQ – this is an upmarket steakhouse; enjoy steak like you’ve not had it before (closed on Sundays; Simply Asia - authentic Thai/Asian cuisine served in a relaxed atmosphere; Africa Café – this is a communal African feast with entertainment (closed on Sundays); Savoy Cabbage - Great cuisine in a beautiful setting. Open Monday to Friday for lunch and dinner, and Saturday evening.

You might also like to pre-order picnic baskets from the Hotel, as they are excellent for Kirstenbosch and their sunset concerts in summer, or just for their beautiful setting. This is also a wonderful option for Signal Hill and beautiful sunsets or sunrises.

The Cape Heritage Hotel is an integral part of the restored Heritage Square, which is bordered by Buitengracht, Hout, Bree and Shortmarket Streets. The earliest Dutch and Georgian houses were built in 1771; the Cape Heritage Hotel building itself was constructed in the 1780's.

Archival research shows that most of the original buildings were used for commerce: tobacconists, snuff makers, gunsmiths, bakers, coach makers and wheelwrights prospered here. There was also a rope warehouse, several retail outfits, a boarding house, a chapel and an undertaker.
