To align with SANParks governance and entry procedures, Table Mountain National Park will require the completion of indemnity forms at all park gates, effective 10 February 2026.
SANParks is in the process of implementing an ID scanning system for South African residents, which will enable the secure collection of visitor data and verification for discounted entry. While this system is being phased in, the interim use of indemnity forms is required to ensure compliance.
• All visitors entering the park must complete an indemnity form
• Groups are required to complete one indemnity form per group or vehicle
• South African residents will be required to present valid proof of identity to qualify for discounted entry
• SADC visitors and visitors holding long-term visas are required to complete an indemnity form
• International visitors are not required to present passports at the gate; however, passport numbers must be recorded on the indemnity form
• Local visitors must complete the form and include their South African ID numbers
• Visitors are encouraged to print and complete the indemnity form in advance and present it on arrival, however forms will also be available at park gates
• Gates include the Cape of Good Hope, Boulders Penguin Colony, Newlands Forest, Oudekraal, Silvermine, and Tokai Picnic Sites. The Table Mountain Aerial Cableway and Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens are not included in this process.
These measures are seen as necessary to ensure SANParks meets its governance, compliance, and reporting requirements while continuing to provide safe and efficient access to the park.
