The Blue Train is changing its iconic Pretoria to Cape Town (or vice-versa) luxury train journey to 2 nights.
This change is set to enhance the offering as guests can now begin their Blue Train journey on the same day as they land in South Africa (for example), as the train will depart in the evening at 18h30 from Pretoria, and in the late afternoon from Cape Town (16h00). This new arrangement will mean no more early morning wake-up calls in order to make the check-in time of 07h30.
With the new arrangements, delays are unlikely as the train will depart and arrive during off-peak hours, thus avoiding scheduling clashes with other commuter or freight trains. Guests can therefore book flights or make other forward arrangements on the day Train arrives in either Pretoria or Cape Town, as both trains arrive at 10h30.
Guests can enjoy day tours in either Pretoria or Cape Town before departure. Both northbound and southbound departures will have a guaranteed two-and-a-half hour off-the-train excursion in Kimberly. Additionally, guests will be able to enjoy a broader menu. The Blue Train dress code continues to be smart-casual during the day; however, gentlemen are requested to wear a jacket/waistcoat, and ladies to dress elegantly, for dinner. No tie is necessary.
